Contrary to reports of alleged vandalism at the Capitol Building Joint Chamber, we have been reliably informed that there’s a massive renovation project currently ongoing to enhance the appearance and functionality of Liberia’s Capitol Building. The renovation work has officially commenced at the House of Representatives, aiming to give the building a much-needed facelift before the upcoming State of the Nation Address in January 2025.
Under the leadership of Speaker Fonati Koffa, the House of Legislature has embarked on significant upgrades to the Capitol. Teams of contractors are actively working to revitalize various sections of the building, with a primary focus on the joint chambers, where members of the House and Senate convene for key national discussions.
“The work happening at the joint chambers is not an act of vandalism,” clarified a representative from the legislature. “What you’re seeing is a dedicated effort to improve the facilities, led by contractors appointed by the legislative leadership.”
Beyond the joint chambers, several other areas within the legislative branch of the Capitol are also undergoing improvements as part of this extensive renovation project.
