After months of investigation, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai is set to make a bold decision regarding the leadership of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA). According to impeccable sources, the President has resolved to fire all three suspended top officials of the LDEA, bringing an end to their controversial tenure.

The decision comes four months after the suspension of Director General Abraham S. Kromah, Deputy Director General for Administration Gbawou Kowou, and Deputy Director General for Operations Hassan Fadiga. The three were removed from their positions without pay pending an investigation into the disorder and chaos that erupted at the LDEA headquarters earlier this year.

During the investigation, Christopher Peters was appointed as the Officer in Charge (OIC) to temporarily lead the agency. Peters, a highly trained and respected security personnel, came with strong recommendations. However, reports now indicate that Peters has resigned from his position, leaving a vacancy for new leadership.

As speculation swirls, former Director General Anthony Souh has emerged as a potential candidate to return to the role he held in 2012 under former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. Souh’s experience and past leadership of the LDEA have led many to wonder whether he will be called upon once again to steer the agency.

President Boakai’s decision marks a critical turning point for the LDEA, an agency tasked with fighting the country’s growing drug-related issues. The public is keen to see how this new leadership will restore order, professionalism, and effectiveness within the agency.

As we await the formal announcement of the new Director General, how do you rate President Boakai’s decision to overhaul the LDEA leadership? Could Anthony Souh’s return signal a new era of enforcement, or will the President choose a fresh face to lead the agency into the future?
