In what should have been a time of joy and celebration, the family and friends of Kula Kamara are instead grieving a grave loss. Kula, a dedicated student at AMEU, was set to receive her Master’s degree on November 13, 2024. Sadly, she passed away unexpectedly at work, just weeks before achieving the milestone she’d worked so hard to reach.
Only thirteen days from her graduation, social media has become a space of sorrow and shared memories, as loved ones pay tribute to her life and dreams. Just days earlier, Kula expressed her excitement online, posting on October 21, 2024:
I am going to win not immediately but definitely. Your Master’s Degree holder come November 13th. God, I am grateful.
Her words now serve as a heartbreaking reminder of what was meant to be.
In a deeply personal tribute, her cousin, Sao Johnson, shared his pain and confusion:
“Cousin Kula, since I got the news about your passing this morning I still don’t know how to process it. I have been asking lots of questions for which there is yet no answer. All I got is that you went to work and felled off. How? Just like that? No signs and symptoms to show you were not feeling ok. You should have been walking out with your Master’s degree on 11/13/2024 and now this. Chay my Aunty first child ooo, I can feel your pain ooo Aunty Ciatta.”
As Kula’s loved ones continue to grapple with this sudden loss, her legacy as a passionate student and cherished family member will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
