The Highway Kings have been crowned champions of the 2024 Liberia Basketball Association (LBA) Male Second Division Championship, completing an extraordinary comeback to secure the title. The Highway boys defied the odds by coming from 2-0 down to defeat Spartacus 3-2 in a thrilling best-of-five series.
The series began with Spartacus taking a commanding 2-0 lead, leaving many to believe they had the title within their grasp. However, the Highway Kings had different plans. In an inspiring display of resilience and determination, the Kings stormed back in Game 3, 4, and 5 to clinch the championship in dramatic fashion.
The final game, played on Sunday, September 29 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Gymnasium, was an intense battle that saw both teams tied at 50 points at the end of regular time. The game then went into a nail-biting overtime, where the Highway Kings emerged victorious with a narrow 59-57 win, igniting jubilant celebrations from their supporters.
