Goalkeeper Abel Ani has emerged victorious in his legal struggle against Gardnerville Football Club, a team in the Orange Second Division. The protracted dispute over unpaid salary and breach of contract has finally reached a resolution, with FIFA stepping in to deliver judgment.
The conflict began when Gardnerville FC terminated Abel Ani’s contract without mutual consent. In response, Ani filed a formal complaint with FIFA, seeking redress for the unpaid wages and breach of contract. After a thorough review, FIFA has ruled in favor of Ani, issuing a statement that mandates Gardnerville FC to compensate him.
FIFA has ordered Gardnerville FC to pay Abel Ani a total of $4,600 in compensation for the breach of contract. Additionally, the club must also pay Ani his outstanding salary for the past seven months, totaling $1,400, along with 5% interest. This amount will accrue additional interest of 5% for each month the payment is delayed beyond the 45-day deadline set for the club to complete the payment.
Should Gardnerville FC fail to meet their payment obligations within the stipulated 45 days, the additional 5% interest will apply each month until the full amount is settled. This provision underscores the seriousness of FIFA’s ruling and ensures that Ani receives the compensation owed to him.
