In a bold and controversial statement, Liberian blogger Bernice Mulbah, founder of CLiberia Clearly, has sparked heated debate by declaring herself as Liberia’s only global artist. Mulbah, known for her candid opinions on the Liberian entertainment scene, took aim at some of the country’s most celebrated artists, dismissing their international achievements as insignificant.

“I am Liberia’s only global artist,” Mulbah stated emphatically. She went on to criticize fellow Liberian artists, including DenG, Takun J, Flex, FA, 2C, Cyrus DeShield, and Kobazzie, asserting that their international successes don’t qualify as global. According to Mulbah, despite their accomplishments—ranging from award nominations and BBC interviews to collaborations with international stars like Akon and Davido—none of these artists have reached the level of global recognition she claims to have achieved.

Mulbah based her argument on streaming numbers, highlighting her 70 million streams as the ultimate measure of global success. She claimed that before her, Liberia’s music industry had no real international presence and that no artist’s work prior to her success can be considered global. “If I don’t share an artist’s work, they can never get international recognition,” she declared, positioning herself as the gatekeeper of international success in Liberia’s music industry.

Mulbah’s remarks come across as a direct shot at JZyno, whom she accused of being self-centered and an opportunist. Her comments have already sparked controversy within the Liberian music community, with many questioning the basis of her claims and the dismissive tone toward her peers.

While Mulbah’s confidence in her achievements is evident, her statements have raised questions about what truly defines global success in the music industry. Is it the number of streams, the caliber of collaborations, or the cultural impact? As the debate continues, it’s clear that Mulbah’s comments have touched a nerve and will likely lead to further discussions about the state and future of Liberian music on the global stage.

Geez Liberia will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as the reactions from the Liberian entertainment industry unfold.
