Just after Mayor Jefferson Koijee’s visit to the United States a few weeks ago, he on today received an entourage representing the Mayor of Houston City.

With the Houston delegation headed by Mr. Val Thompson, the President of Houston International Trade Development Council, Inc, accompanied by retired Judge, Bill C. Littlejohn, Co-Founder, Sustainable Agricultural Initiative for Liberia (SAIL), and Denise Adjei, Corporate Etiquette & International Protocol Consultant.

They are all remarkable figures of theHouston’s leadership team. And they are also expected to have some close engagements with some government ministries and agencies, private institutions, and Universities to explore and see how easily they can provide opportunities in bringing huge and profitable investments to Monrovia and the entire country at large.

Here is the post by Mayor. Koijee:

“Today our City Government received another recognition and boost when a delegation from the City of Houston, Texas visited us with words of good tidings.

The three-man team headed by Mr. Val Thompson, President of Houston International Trade Development Council, Retired Judge Bill C. Littlejohn, Co-Founder, Sustainable Agricultural Initiative for Liberia (SAIL), and Denise Adjei, Corporate Etiquette & International Protocol Consultant read a special letter from the Mayor of Houston who amongst many things expressed excitement over the need for a sisterly city establishment between Monrovia and the City of Houston.

Mayor Sylvester Turner was quick to realize the role descendants of Africa play in his city especially when it comes to revenue generation and cultural exchanges stating the urgent need to create sisterly relationship with Monrovia due to many similarities: sea port, great workforce and opportunities beyond expectations.

The Houston Mayor told our team at the Monrovia City Government that he looks forward to exploring various ways our two cities can collaborate in enhancing economic and cultural development.

The US delegation comes at a time when we just returned from their country where we met several Mayors and stakeholders of various municipalities in an effort of creating the ambiance for working together.

\’City diplomacy and Cooperation\’ as in Mayor Turner’s words remain cardinal for continuous growth and development of different cities and we too look forward to that. He has also expressed through his delegation his interest in visiting himself.

We are hopeful that this relationship will explore more opportunities for all sides as we jumpstart ours with the presentation of land to the delegation which can be use to harness development as soon as they want.

Monrovia and Houston will continue this unique relationship which is expected to create more opportunities for all sides.
