Lil Loaded, the Dallas rapper behind the 2019 viral summer hit \”6locc 6a6y,\” has died at age 20.

The Dallas County medical examiner’s office confirmed Monday, May 31, to USA TODAY that the young rapper, whose legal name was Dashawn Robertson, had died. Officials did not reveal the cause of his death.

However, Ashkan Mehryari, an attorney for the rapper, told USA TODAY the cause of death was suicide. \”Sadly, I am able to confirm Mr. Robertson passed away today,\” Mehryari wrote in a statement.

The attorney told the Dallas Morning News that his client\’s death was \”very tragic,\” adding, \”He had a very bright and promising music career ahead of him.\”

Loaded was arrested back in October 2020 on suspicion of murder, after shooting and killing his 18-year-old friend Khalil Walker with a rifle, in an incident in Texas.

He was charged in March 2021 with one count of manslaughter after his friend died, as a Dallas grand jury decided there was enough evidence to charge him with causing the death.

On the afternoon of October 25, 2020 police were called to the victim\’s Dallas home. He had been shot in the chest and later died from his injuries after being rushed to the Methodist Charlton Medical Center.

His sister Khija ran outside of the home where the shooting happened and saw Walker \”lying on the street with a gunshot wound to his torso\”.

Khija reportedly \”picked up [Lil Loaded\’s] phone and saw a video taken on the phone showing the suspect shoot the complainant\”, according to the affidavit.

Following the shooting, Loaded thanked fans for their support and paid tribute to his friend.

He wrote: \”I appreciate all y\’all support. They try to make u look guilty wen u innocent regardless .. we going to get pass this [sic].

\”RIP my brother love you.\”

According to court records, Lil Loaded was due in court on Tuesday, June 1, for an admonishment hearing.

Lil Loaded\’s last Instagram post before his death appears to be a goodbye post.

According to Revolt, the rapper wrote in his most recent Instagram post: \”Dear most high, please forgive me for my shortcomings and all of the times I’ve fell short of making you proud and being appreciative of the blessings that have been put in my life… I ask for entrance into your kingdom thru all of my mistakes. I know you love all your children, and I’m ready for my heart and soul to join you.\”

Lil Loaded\’s death comes only days after his \”6locc 6a6y\” was certified gold on May 25 by the Recording Industry Association of America. The music video for the song has amassed nearly 29 million views on YouTube. The rapper\’s follow-up single in October 2019, \”Gang Unit,\” became an even bigger hit with over 39 million YouTube views.
