The President of Liberia his excellency Dr. Dr. George Manneh Weah, has sent out a Condolence message to President Muhammad Buhari, the armed forces and people of Nigeria for the loss of their fallen Nigerian chief of army staff Lt. Gen Ibrahim Attahiru and his colleagues who fell to the cold hands of death on May 21, 2021 in a tragic plane crash.
General Attahiru had only assumed his new role in January when he was appointed to head the country\’s army. As a career officer, he rose through ranks of the force occupying various leadership positions, including as company commander of NIBATT-19 in Liberia during the days of the civil war.
President Weah hailed the personal sacrifice of General Attahiru in helping to bring peace to Liberia and the peacekeeping role of the Nigerian army as a whole. He said the General\’s death was also a loss to Liberia.
The Liberian Leader sent his personal condolences to the family of Attahiru, urging them to take solace in the Lord during this difficult time.
