Just a week after the street lights were being installed, Liberians residing or traveling along the routes; where they were installed, have began removing the bolts off them.
Shocking photos of street lights being held by only a single bolt were posted by a man known as William Franklin Caesar. Revealing these photos brought shock to the general public as many began wondering why would Liberians engage in such act.
We’ve always been crying for development and have been relating the causes of accidents along the ELWA, Tubman Boulevaurd, and Sinkor Route to the lack of visibility. With some remarking that it has been unsafe to drive on the roads at night.
Now the government of Liberia under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Dr. George Manneh Weah saw the need to initiate a project tagged “Light Up Monrovia”. A project that is projected towards lighting up the streets and major neighborhoods in all parts of Monrovia and subsequently the entire country.
But today seeing what is being done to the first few street lights that were planted, what are you thoughts as per the way Liberians are behaving. Is there any need for this project to continue if we (Liberians) don’t value it. What message does this send out there to the world at large.
I’ll rest my pen and take your comments.
